Boat: "Miles Ahead", John Lawler's 6.5m 175HP, Sorrento

After lunch we headed out through the heads to the J4 Submarine. John Lawler anchored his boat and Peter Brigg's boat was tied up to the stern. Everyone but Alan Storen gear up, tumbled in and headed down the anchor line.

Benita and I were about the last to head down. We found the anchor line took us past the conning tower and onto the port side. We headed forward towards the break. Benita didn't want to follow the others inside and headed off towards the bow with me following.

On reaching the bow, Benita kept going. I thought she must be tracking something. Because of the poor visibility I wasn't keen to head off of the bow as I was mindful we could have trouble finding our way back to the submarine and the anchor line.

I kept hanging back from Benita trying to get her to come back towards me. But eventually I was forced to join her. We eventually started to head back trying to find the J4 submarine, but had no luck.

So we started our ascent and I shot my DSMB at 5 metres.

With everyone back on board we headed back into Sorrento and then back to The Scuba Doctor for air fills. That night, Peter and Val, Heather, Dave and his wife, plus Benita and I went out for dinner in Rye.
