| Dive Captain: John Lawler, VSAG Boat: "Raydon", Lloyd Borrett's Haines Hunter V17L, 130HP, Sorrento Graham Ellis' boat: Graham Ellis, John Lawler, and Alex Ivanov. With Stephen McMaster , David Flew, and myself aboard "Raydon", we headed out from Sorrento. A call to Lonsdale Lighthouse revealed that our thoughts of diving the Eliza Ramsden were out because of shipping traffic. So we decided to head outside and dive the Coogee. So with David's assisstance we tried to locate the Coogee using the various marks we had for it. Eventually we thought we had the right place and dropped the shot line. Not sure if we had the right place, Stephen and I geared up and went in. We headed down the shot line to find nothing but sand at the bottom. So we took a look around, but with limited visibility, we were unable to locate the Coogee. Bugger! With not much to see on the bottom, we soon decided to head back to the surface. We headed back inside into Port Phillip and the others did a drift dive off Queenscliff. With diving over, we made our way back to Sorrento, and retrieved the boats. Then it was back to The Scuba Doxctor for air fills. I grabbed all of the boat's gear from the shed at The Doc's and towed the boat home. |
