Conditions were a bit iffy and VSAG had cancelled diving, so we headed down to try and do a dive on the HMAS Canberra. This would be Cheryl's first wreck dive.

Stopped in at The Scuba Doctor for air fills and then headed down to Dive Victoria's shop at Portsea. Checked in, transferred gear and started gearing up. Eventually headed out onto the pier to wait for the dive boat. And wait, and wait. Eventually it arrived and we headed out to the dive site.

Cheryl didn't mind the rough trip out so much, but was not comfortable gearing up in the swell. The dive boat went to the North West mooring buoy which meat we were at the stern of the HMAS Canberra on the starboard side.

We geared up and were the last in. Decended down and headed over to the stern and then towards the helicoper hangers. Visibility was quite reasonable but I decided it would better to take Cheryl towards the bridge on the outside of the ship rather than through it.

Cheryl was starting to get used to the surge as we made our way to the bridge. I invited Cheryl to enter the bridge and followed her in. We had a look around. Nice to see the VARS plaque still in position.

On exiting the bridge we made our way back towards the stern and the buoy line that the dive boat was using. We started our ascent and did a safety stop.

Back on board the boat we headed back to Portsea. Changed back into street clothes and had lunch at the cafe before heading back to The Scuba Doctor for air fills.

A truly enjoyable 300th dive.
