| Boat Captain: Kevin Delonge Boat Name: MV Mazurka, Ocean Blue Adventures, Tutukaka Marina Safety Diver: Jef Over lunch Jef asked if I'd done any cave diving. I replied that I hadn't done any serious cave diving, but that I had done plenty of wreck penetration, plus been into a number of sea caves etc. He explained that there was an interesting cave in the wall nearby. The others would be diving the Landing Bay Pinnacle (bombie) at the bow of the boat, but that he could take me over to the wall and into the cave. About 50 metres into the cave we would find a passageway off to the right which would lead us back out to the wall. It was quite a delightful dive into the cave and along the passageway. I swiched cylinders just before we arrived at the end of the passageway. Jej asked if I wanted to go along the wall or back through the cave. I signalled back through the cave. Jeff asked how much air I had and looked surprised when I told him 180 bar. I suspect he had forgotton I was on independent cylinders. We made our way back along the passageway, into the cave, out onto the wall and then across to the bombie bat the bow of the boat. Jef then departed with the others, while I stayed and checked out the bombie for a bit. |
