| Dive Captain: John Lawler, VSAG Boat: "Miles Ahead", John Lawler's 6.5m 175HP, Sorrento Ten divers and three dive boats turned up at Sorrento boat ramp on time. The weather was fine and the seas calm, and the forecast suggested it would stay that way. David Geekie's boat had ouboard problems and the decision was taken to put it back into dry dock. The remaining eight divers were allocated over the two functioning craft. I was on John Lawler's boat with Rob Cowan and John Gladding. We decided to try for the Eliza Ramsden, but it turned out there were 3 to 4 ships coming through The Heads during the slack water. So we headed over to the Lonsdale Wall/ Boarfish Reef area. I dropped in on Boarfish Reef with two new buddies fresh from the UK in Rob Cowan and John Gladding. The viz was very poor, in the range of 3 metres max. VBut, as usual for this dive area, the bottom terrain and abundance of fish life more than made up for it. Back on board, we had lunch. |
