Divemaster: John Lawler, VSAG
Boat: "Miles Ahead", John Lawler's 6.5m 175HP, Sorrento

John Lawler, Alister Roberts and I met at The Scuba Doctor in Rye and we convinced Matt Kelly to join us for a days diving. I switched back to my single setup, we loaded John's boat and we all headed off in his car to Sorrento Boat Ramp.

We headed out to Lonsdale Wall, quite close to the heads. Another private boat had shot the wall, but it seemed in the wrong location to us. So we put the shot down where we thought it should be. We had quite some time waiting for slack water and started to gear up.

Matt Kelly had problems with his gear, so we decided that John, Alister and I would do the dive. Two commercial charter boats showed up and put their shot lines in near ours, quite some distance away from the other one.

Once slack water arrived we rooled into the water. Alister lost his mask and another one was passed to him. Then we decended down the shot line to the bottom. The shot was right where it should be and we headed over and down the wall, starting to explore the nooks and crannys.

As always, Lonsdale Wall is a great place to dive with plenty to see and it never fails to fascinate.

When I noticed Alister was down to 100 bar, I signalled to John that we should head for the top of the wall and explore there.

When Alister was down to 80 bar, I shot my DSMB and we ascended, to our safety stop.

Once back on the boat we had the good news that Matt had manage to fix his gear problems and would be able to dive later.

Then it was off to Pope's Eye for lunch.
