| Divemaster: John Lawler, VSAG Boat: "Miles Ahead", John Lawler's 6.5m 175HP, Queenscliff Once again we stopped at the bakery as we headed through Queenscliff to the boat ramp. We changed, put the boats in and headed out into the bay to be joined by Peter Briggs and Alan Dickerson in Peter's boat. We headed out to the J4 Submarine. Alan Storen transferred to Peter's boat so that he could dive with Alan Dickerson. John Lawler and I geared up and joined them in the water. Both of us decided to take our cameras along. I managed to get caught on the shot line as we descended, but it was soon sorted and John and I started to take some photos. The two Alans entered the submarine, but we stayed on the outside. I was having a great time taking photos of the others, some fish, and marine growth. It's going to be a real learning experience to get this underwater photography thing right though. The four of us joined up once the others had finished their penetration and we headed back to the shot line. The two Alans headed up before John and I. Alan Dickerson had a bit of trouble with the shot line and the rest of us were quickly on the scene to assist him. Once we were on the surface and in the boats we decided to change dive sites. A few commercial dive boats had arrived an the others weren't keen to dive the J4 if it was going to be crowded, so we moved over to the Coogee. Then the others did their dive. The Freediver boat had headed out to do the J1 instead of the J4. They joined us back at the Coogee and the three boats drifted along as we had lunch. We were keen to dive the Eliza Ramsden on the slack water, but we decided it was too long a wait and headed over to Castle Rock instead. |
