Divemaster: John Lawler, VSAG
Boat: "Miles Ahead", John Lawler's 6.5m 175HP, Queenscliff

At Castle Rock Greg Richards and I geared up and went in. Alan Storen and Alan Dickerson joined us from Peter's boat.

Greg and I descended quickly down the shot line and then to the bottom of the rock. We then headed off around the rock counter clockwise.

The conditions were magnificent. Great visibility, now surge or current and fish everywhere. A huge improvement on my previous dive at Castle Rock.

Greg and I took our time going around the rock checking out the marine life.

Then we joined up with the two Alans on top of the rock. Greg was cold, so he headed up and I joined the two Alans. Then Alan Dickerson started his ascent and Alan Storen and I joined him.

Once back aboard we headed back towards Queenscliff. As we were going through the rip we noticed one of the dive charter boats heading out into the rip and seemingly searching for something. We headed over to them and learnt that they were looking for two divers. Alan Storen and Greg Richards spotted a SMB to the west of us. We alerted the dive charter boat and headed over to the divers. They were okay and we stayed with them until their boat arrived.

At Queenscliff we retrieved the two boats and headed to the Queenscliff Dive Centre for air fills and to change.

Back at Boarfish Lodge we had a BBQ dinner, Mary Malloy showed us slides of some of her dive trips and Alan Beckhurst put on some of his diving DVDs.

The weather on Monday morning was no good, so some people headed off. seven of us headed off to do a tour of Fort Queenscliff. Then we headed off to catch the 3pm ferry and onto The Scuba Doctor to catch up with everyone there.

An absolutely brilliant long weekend dive trip.
