The USS Anderson (DD-411) was a Sims-class destroyer that served in World War II and later became a target ship for the Operation Crossroads "Able" atomic bomb blast on 1 July 1946 at Bikini Atoll.

The bomb detonated 158 metres (520 feet) above the target fleet and caused less than the expected amount of damage to the target fleet because it missed its aim point by about 650 metres (2,130 feet) to the northwest. The blast occurred closer to the USS Anderson than intended and sank her. It also sank the USS Gilham, USS Carlisle, USS Lamson, and IJN Sakawa.

The USS Anderson destroyer is at a depth of 52 metres (170 ft), is pretty intact, and rests on her port side. The highlights of the dive include the propellers and then proceeding along the deck toward the bow, where there are two 5-inch guns, the bridge, two sets of 4 x torpedo launchers, anti-aircraft guns and a lot of other interesting artifacts. Her massive propellers are visible from a distance.

We started our Friday morning dive on the USS Anderson destryer towards the stern, proceeded from the stern up the starboard side to the bow, and then back to the stern propellers.
