Took me an hour or so to find the answer. I made the mistake of ignoring the dice and compiling a list of solutions using numbers. I generated a couple of algorithms that were right a cetain percentage of the time.

I found the answer when I was reading the web page about how Bill Gates did it. When I realized that it had to be very simple algorithm that someone could do in their head with out much thought and most likely used a visual hint. When I saw a couple of solutions on that web page all next to each I figured it out right away.

I was annoyed I didn't figure it out using my original brute force math approach. I skipped a whole class of simple equations.

smile I have a smart freind that showed me this becuase he couldn't figure it out. it took me about 3 trys before i got it. It made me feel good until he said the simpler your mind was, the quicker you figure it out. Now that i know it i have to agree with him.

Was stumped at first, and was worried I was going to take a long time where others have quickly discovered the secret. However, after about 10 minutes (8 rolls + a few to make sure I was correct) I solved the puzzle.

A very pleasing solution too. Great puzzle. big grin

After 30 minutes of trying to work this out, I put it away and came back to in a few hours later and figured it out in 5 minutes.

What a great reminder that was that the problems we are faced with every day sometimes need to be put down and looked at with a fresh mind.

It's too simple! Thankfully it only took me about 10 minutes to solve, but I could easily have been looking at it for hours.

Great puzzle. Got it after three failed attempts. It's good to be forced to think laterally, I probably lucked out because i was feeling lazy about working out the needlessly complex agorithms that where trying to present themselves to me, and rather than go for the bait i just stared at the instructions until.... voila!

Took me half an hour of maths. After that I started concentrating on why the name is important. Good thing I didn't google for the answer...

Got it in 25 rolls. Neat puzzle, the kind designed to drive grown men insane; glad I figured it out before I went crazy!
