Sadly, I figured it out while reading the Bill Gates article. No mortal combat with the dice for me.

Ahhh... the name IS significant... and not in a mathematical sense. After about an hour of fiddlig with my TI-89 I put it down and decided to treat it like every other evil riddle that has been put down in front of me and to think laterally. It's a great riddle/game! Great for work

It took me about 10 minutes. I felt really silly when I realized what was going on and how complex I was trying to make the answer.

How many clues does it take to screw in the proverbial light bulb of "eureka"?
1. Reading through the Bill Gates story.
2. Growing bored before reaching the end and browsing through some anime fanfics instead.
3. Hearing the housemate suddenly muse from across the room, "So the name is significant, eh..."
I don't pretend to know how my mind works. It keeps life interesting.
