Took me over an hour. With a ton of talking and laughing to myself, I figured it out!!

I saw a link to this puzzle in Jon Carroll's column in the San Francisco Chronicle. He said it took him months... I got it immediately, I was wrong on the first roll because I counted a 1 as 1 petal (I figured there had to be a trick) Does this mean I'm really really dumb?
durn it

First saw this in High School. It was easy for me to figure out because I am lazy by nature and always look for the simplest solution to a problem.

I sat down with paper and pencil to figure it out, writing the numbers in decimal form like a good little engineer. It took about 2 minutes for it to sink in that this wasn't a paper and pencil sort of puzzle. *Then* I got it.
I think I qualify.

I figured it out on the fifth try. Getting a zero response led me to it.

I wonder how many people are telling the truth about how long it took them. It took me just over an hour, I was thinking too far outside the box, I couldnt even see the box any more.
