30 minutes. I started out like most, with overanalytical crap. I should say that I tried to figure it out from your example rolls from the Bill Gates page for the first 10 or 15 minutes, and then spent the rest of that time rolling them myself at http://crux.baker.edu/cdavis09/roses.html
I went through maybe 20 rolls there before I deleted my notes and just started staring at the dice mindlessly. And then, boom. There it was.
The faster one figures this game out, the less likely they are to get the satori-feeling when they finally do figure it out.
For those who are proud to have seen it so fast: You've missed out on something.
For those that haven't figured it out after a considerable time: It will be worth it.

3 hours, no paper or pencil, no hints, and it's 4:19 in the f-ing morning. But hey, at least I got it. Would've taken a lot longer if it hadn't been for the subtle hints in the instructions.

Really freakin' simple. Just think about what the rose is and you've got it.

This was frustrating. It took me an hour.
I think the reason why smart people take a long time to figure it out, is because they tend to think about a solution in a difficult manner.
Computer Engineers never check for a disconnected powercord when examining a malfunctioning computer... it's too simple.

Got it on the first try. I wish I hadn't, but I've subscribed to K.I.S.S. for too long.
I'll see how my friends do....
