Thanks for introducing me to this wonderful puzzle. Such a feeling of accomplishment. I must admit that your randomly colored dice were an unwelcome diversion. I especially enjoyed the Bill Gates anecdote.

Ah, cross-brain puzzles that make you glad that you have studied engineering and computer science; Hilbert spaces make this problem trivial! I should take this around different faculties at the uni and see how much faster artsies solve it.
