Petals Around the Rose: Fraternity Register

My daughter came home with this last night as a class challenge from one of her new teachers this year. It took me a few minutes today with real computer dice, but I can now go home and encourage her to find out the answer on her own.

funny myself and my daughter worked this out seperatly and both got the correct answers but in diffrent ways..
she figure it out in 5 mins by using maths..i figured it out in 10 after pondering the name..petals round the rose..that was the key..u solve that and its easy

A little dumb luck, mixed with a poor strategy equals an Ah-Ha moment

Took me about 2 minutes, got it on my second roll. Just guessed right, I guess. I don't understand why the question is written "There are how many petals around the rose?". Why not write it "How many petals are around the rose?"

My friend send me this in year around 2004 and spent a day to figure it out and failed, i did not bother it anymore until one time at this year 2006 while i was browsing my old mails, i was challenge again and decided to try it one more time, as i came across to all the examples i just found it right away... ohhh walahh. this is a very very teaser puzzle

HA! I got it! it took me about 3 minutes!

Took me about 20 minutes.

It took me about a week of 10 to 20 minute sessions to figure it out.

I'm an artist, and don't consider myself a "numbers" person, but got the answer in 10 minutes.
