I'm not a math whiz (nor do I play one on TV) so this seemed out of my area. This little puzzle is a good reminder that sometimes it hurts to know too much. Nice to see how the setup can mis-direct or reveal the answer depending on the players expectations.

this was a fun one. I'm still quite excited because I don't usually get things like this. After I read the article, I went to http://personal.baker.edu/web2/cdavis09/roses.htm
to play along myself and afterwhile.. and while saying the rules back in my head.. I got it after 7 tries.
Thanks for sharing this openly, I can't wait to try this one on some unsuspecting people!

The samples in the article gave me enough to work on. Good puzzle.

Flailed around for a bit, then reread the intro and the light bulb went on.

Figured it out by roll ten, but just avoided going off on some terribly futile tangents.

Got it after about a dozen tries, but I am not a math person.

nice one. But the clue on the Gates page gives it away. Not sure how long it would've taken without that

Figured it out from the Bill Gates article as the javascript wasn't working in Firefox. Speaking of javascript....
