I got it pretty much instantly.
I guess some people's brains are just wired right for this particular puzzle.

I decided first to read about Bill Gates and his experience with the puzzle. I figured it out just from reading that, and never got to play the game! The real solution was the first thing I had thought of, and I couldn't believe that that was the solution! But I think it's a great brain teaser anyway and I'll try it on some others.

Worked with Firefox for me. Fun, I'll have to dig out some dice and mess with co-workers.

I really liked this puzzle. Thanks for the entertaining site!
Btw, now that I've solved the puzzle I expect my fraternity secret-decoder ring to be arriving in the mail any day now!

I figured the puzzle out while reading the article about Bill Gates- now if I could only figure out why the applet doesn't work in my browser, I would be a true potentate!

read about Bill Gates encounter with PATR here but had to find another java applet that worked with my Mac OSX Mozilla:
http://www.freeworldgroup.com/games/roses/
it took around 20 minutes of a lunch break for it to reveal itself but once you get it it seems ridiculously simple...

It took me a couple of rolls, but I got it. Can't wait to stump my friends.
