I found PAtR fascinating. I've never seen this game before, and it took me over a dozen rolls to sort it out. Very nice.

As it says in Ecclesiastes: "There is nothing new under the sun." My cell phone is ringing...I gotta go.

It took me a little while to figure out how to get the right numbers. I did it the hard way -- by analyzing the rolls and results.
What took me longer was figuring out how the name of the game figures into it! But I am finally enlightened. And now that I know why it's named what it's named, it all makes so much more sense
After I figured things out, I did some searching and saw references to this game (and variations) that have to do with polar bears. I'll leave finding them as an exercise for the reader.
Unfortunately, I also found some web sites that give the answer away. Bummer. If you're reading this and still haven't figured it out for yourself yet, keep trying! The name of the game really is important, and you don't have to figure out any complex mathematical formulas to work things out. That's all I can say on the matter.

Interesting indeed, my son (10yrs) and I tried figuring this out last night. He'll be upset when I tell him tonight that I figured it out at work this afternoon

It was a matter of discovering what I needed to ignore.

Took a bit, but got it.... I felt stupid, then when I read somewhere that grade school kids figured it out, then I knew it couldn't be too complex.
