I got it after reading the Bill Gates story up to the point where so-and-so walked away after a few minutes, dismissing the puzzle as trivial. Somehow that made the right connection for me.

I was another one who figured out the algorithm, then had to figure out how the name of the game figures into it. Just another way of looking at it, I guess...

It took me a couple of hours, and like gates, I could guess the answer pretty well, but didn't know why. Until I misread something, then figured it out....weird.
