Finally I got it. It took a lot of hours

Somebody linked me to this a while ago and I spent about five minutes puzzling over it, and then left it for a few hours. When I came back, I solved it by logic/maths in another five minutes, then worked out the actual pattern after that.

Since then I've showed it to numerous people. My grandfather followed exactly the same pattern as I did - ten minutes total, solved it by maths and then realised why it worked. My mother got it really quickly without maths. I've tried it on a lot of people who just gave up in frustration.

It's all about frame of mind, maybe even more than *how* your mind works. If you don't actually believe in your ability to solve stuff like this, you'll never get it.

(Plus, it helps to have the sort of view of maths that enables you to say "well, it says even numbers only, so somehow I need to get rid of the odd number on some of the dices...", even though it's really not a mathematical thought at all.)

I gave up after some minutes and started to read the Bill Gates story instead. When i came to the part where Bill got it, i just knew the answer. I guess you shouldn't think too much when solving a problem like this.

Pretty slick. Was stumped the first time around... figured it out just before I was about to quit. Glad I didn't... I can sleep tonight!!

I'm a long-time (20+ years) P.A.T.R. Member. I am now an 8th grade Math teacher looking for a way to stimulate my kids to think about HOW to solve problems, and PATR came back to me. I GOOGLE'd it on the web, and found this register as well. Boy, does this brings back memories from 25 years back!

My daughter-7-got it before me. She sees connections all over! To have those eyes again...

Took me two dice rolls...seemed insanely easy, but I think seeing someone do it in person would make it a bit harder.

Took some time, since my understanding of the english language isn't all that. But I did figure it out and am looking formward to play this game with my friends.

I figured it out in about 5 minutes, I showed a friend the site and he figured it out no joke, on the first try... it was crazy... are you sure you all are right about these long amounts of time you take?
