it was an excellent puzzle....it took me half an hour to solve this...its so simple...but its hard to strike...

5 minutes, 27 seconds.

Drove me batsh!t when I first ran across this -- bookmarked it and gave up.

Just went back to it and got it in about five minutes.

Amazing what a fresh perspective will do.

If you have the luck of writing the right things down e.g. in Excel, the problem is solved in 10 minutes, 7 guesses and 5 more to check.

WOW that was one of the more irritating problems I've done... very satisfying to have solved it!!! I feel special now. Took about a half hour.

Crazy stuff. I worked on it for hours one day, got frustrated and quit. I came back almost a year later and figured it out in 5 minutes.

Somebody linked me to this a while ago and I spent about five minutes puzzling over it, and then left it for a few hours. When I came back, I solved it by logic/maths in another five minutes, then worked out the actual pattern after that.

Since then I've showed it to numerous people. My grandfather followed exactly the same pattern as I did - ten minutes total, solved it by maths and then realised why it worked. My mother got it really quickly without maths. I've tried it on a lot of people who just gave up in frustration.

It's all about frame of mind, maybe even more than *how* your mind works. If you don't actually believe in your ability to solve stuff like this, you'll never get it.

(Plus, it helps to have the sort of view of maths that enables you to say "well, it says even numbers only, so somehow I need to get rid of the odd number on some of the dices...", even though it's really not a mathematical thought at all.)

I gave up after some minutes and started to read the Bill Gates story instead. When i came to the part where Bill got it, i just knew the answer. I guess you shouldn't think too much when solving a problem like this.
