Divemaster: Peter Meagher, Abyss Scuba Diving, Ramsgate, NSW

We stayed with Kym and Phyllis and Brighton Le Sands the night before and headed down to Abyss Scuba Diving in Ramsgate early. Hired cylinders and weights from Abyss and followed the group by car to The Steps.

Took a walk down to check out the site, then back to the top to gear up. Peter Meagher, the Divemaster, kindly offered to take Benita's tank down. Ivan Paz and his wife, new Open Water divers, were the other two in our group of five.

Once all five were in the water and safely clear of the wave zone we descended.

Visability was just 3m. Benita, Ivan and myself found ourselves out of contact with the others. Benita went to the surface to find them, which she did, but lost us. Iavan and myself went to the surface, but couldn't find the others. We decided to continue by ourselves.

Ivan was having problems with his buoyancy control, so I spent most of my time assisting him.

Didn't get much of a chance to look around and the visibility was poor. There didn't seem to be a lot to see though.

Once Ivan was at 80 bar we surfaced, joined up with the others and made our way in.

Left the diving gear on the rocks and took the empty cylinder up The Steps. Had lunch at the top, and took a fresh cylinder back down.
