| Julie Bendall took over as Cheryl Lees' instructor when Tim moved on. As a first get acquainted and do some more skills dive, Julie took Cheryl to Rye Pier. I was tagging along for moral support. Cheryl had been loaned a jacket BC and set of regulators with a SPG and Depth Gauge console which she was using for the first time. The hire fins Cheryl had previously used on her course dives weren't available so she switched into a different set. She was also wearing my Suunto dive compass on her wrist. We headed down to Rye Pier geared up and made our way out to the pier landing. The sun was soon to be setting. I went in the water first to warm things up. Cheryl and Julie then joined me and we descended. Julie proceeded to put Cheryl through some skills and then just dive for a bit. As it started to get dark we made our way back to the landing and climbed out. Cheryl had some problems reading the small gauges on the console, so we came up with a plan for the next day as we headed home. |
