| The Manta Point dive site is a manta cleaning station on the southwest coast of Nusa Pendia, Bali. According to the Balinese, the low island of Nusa Pendia is a place with strange powers that, if not quite evil, are certainly worthy of respect. Some say this would be a good description of the diving as well. The areas we dived are scoured by constant strong currents. Thus this is a place where you should trust the recommendations of your divemaster and boat captain, and be prepared to change plans as conditions dictate. Manta Point, is a limestone outcrop off Tanjung Pandan, near the far West of Nusa Penida. The above water scenery is spectacular, with sheer limestone cliffs cut by the swell that pounds the coast all year round. The profile of the dive site is a slope down to 50 metres, with no coral at all, just bare limestone rock. The only reason to dive this site is to see mantas, tiger mackeral, tuna and other pelagics. There is no real current here, just swell, but it is heavy and we were briefed that it can quickly become a dangerous dive site. Location: GPS coordinates from the PADI website. |
