A level Mathmatics A grade, followed by a 1st Class Law degree, and I got it on the 5th go. It is not about how smart you are, it is about logical thinking. People who work for consultancy firms and the like would be able to sort it out almost instantly because their prerogative is to find the simplest solution to the problem at hand logically. The more experience at maths you have, particularly in statistics, the more likely that you will seek to find a theoretical, not logical, conclusion to the problem, and for that reason it would take that person longer. The classification of the statement shouldn't be about how smart you are, but how qualified you are.

lol, third go...
does that make me reaaaaaaly stupid?
i didnt go into any advanced mathematics because i presumed the answer was fairly simple as are most questions like this... and i was right
its not that hard to realise how the answer was formulated if you read the question, and think about it

It took me about two hours to solve, by sorting rolls by number of petals.
The hardest part, I think, was figuring out what roses had to do with it...

That thing nearly killed me - maths at Cambridge evidently was a significant hindrance! Now at last I can sleep!

This was a fun little puzzle! I got it on my 5th roll after i decided that the answer was buried in Dr. Duke's comments. Alot of posts seem to be comming from people who took his words, "The smarter you are, the longer it will take to figure it out," to heart. If you read between the lines you will find that this guy has a sence of humor. Just think outside the box!

Yay! 10 minutes and I finally got it - guess that mean I'm not as clever as I thought!
