Took me a while to figure this out over lunch. Interesting how the answer is so simple. Indeed, the solution is Petals around the roses and it is always even.

I solved it on the 4th roll. From the beginning, I thought the name was strange and got stuck thinking about that strange name. I kept asking, "Why is it called Petals Around the Rose?" I didn't even attempt to solve any of the rolls. I just looked at the rolls and thought about the strange name. Then on the 4th roll, I "saw" it. Pretty cool. My 13 year old son is trying to solve it now. He asked if he could simplify it by using less than 5 dice. Of course, I said yes. Simplifying a problem is one of the first steps in problem solving. He is stuck on the name and keeps asking why is it called Petals Around the Rose.

It took me 4 damn hours over a period of two days. It's hard once you get into advanced math courses, you think too hard. Whatever. If you want proof as to my solving it, the answer to 62341 is 2 and the answer to 13342 is 4.
