First I tried not to pay any attention to the title as well as to the number on the dices, and just randomly guessed whatever number popped up in my mind. After a few minutes, the answer became transparent to me. It did not bother me with the idea that the smarter you are the longer it takes to figure it out. I won't say anymore to try to sound smart, because I guess I've already gotten the answer of how "intelligent" I am.

Nailed it in a minute or two. Oddly, I can explain very little about my thought processes in coming up with a solution, other than thinking that the solution was probably very simple. It just "clicked" for me, after maybe six examples.

It took about 12 rolls before I figured it out. Once I shifted my focus to "simple solution," I answered it correctly consistently.

As a Math teacher, I found this to be one of the most interesting brainteasers I have seen. I plan to assign it to my IB Math students & see how long it takes them to join the Fraternity! smile

The first time I tried to solve this puzzle it had me stumped. I kept trying to come up with mathematical equations. Nothing worked. confused
I tried again when I was home sick and having trouble concentrating on anything and voila! It hit me. big grin
Now I enjoy tormenting others! wink

Its a puzzle which the intellectual elite (Computer Scientists and Mathematicians) may take hours to solve, whereas kids will take minutes!!
