Jesus... That took forever... I actually saw this a year ago and couldn't get it then, either. I gave up. This time I read a bunch of hints and finally, finally, after writing columns for 2, 4, 6, and 8, and the corresponding patterns that fit, figured it out. Holy hell.

 well, i guess the moral of the game is...don't complicate things...sometimes the most obvious answer to a difficult problem is the simplest one. try to read between the lines  you can learn something from this game
