I guess its easier if the dice are BIG.. answer strikes easily. On a passing thought, a regression b/w past throws and correct answer can also give a hint (the coefficients). But this is one great teaser.

I consulted a Ph D. (statistics) student to crack this tough nut...its a simple example of Quartile Deviation followed by an application of Sheppard's correction...plot the curve and find Kurtosis Yield...simple..!
if that doesnt work, just use common sense...

Took about an hour. Every theory prior to the answer verged so close that it frustrated me. After figuring it out, I kicked myself.

I tried all kinds of mathematical calculations ,wrote the numbers on a sheet of paper trying to figure out what the relations between numbers could be.
I then looked at the dice and suddenly it struck me. It needs no calculations at all. Never thought it cud be this easy
Good one though !!

We were in a workshop last week and our facilitator, Ms Merly, made "petals around the rose" an icebreaker. It took me about a few seconds to figure it out and she told me not to spoil the fun of the rest by telling the secret. The workshop is over, not one has yet figured it out.
