Read the story of Bill Gates and got the strategy from the hint "The name of the game is ..." Must show this to the folks at school! An excellent puzzle.

Took me a few goes but I got it. I started writing down all the throws but the comment in the 1977 article that said someone got it in a few rolls made me think I was on the wrong track and rethink my approach. Very nice!

I read the directions and got it the first try. I was a little surprised it was so easy, but sometimes you get lucky. The key phrase "the name is important" gave it away.

Interesting game, but the name totally gives it away. Thinking about the name made me tackle the problem from a semantic/linguistic standpoint rather than a mathmatical one, and that plus the examples in the Gates article were enough to tell me the entire thing.
I have some friends I have to try this on. They will love it.
