I first saw this in a Psych class in college years ago; it was presented as a game that Field Marshall Montgomery used to evaluate the potential candidates for promotion to his staff. Seems Monty would gather the officers, play the game until the first "winner" caought on, then dismiss the rest his staff to swear in the new "Knight of the Rose."
