| Dive Captain: John Lawler, VSAG Boat: "Miles Ahead", John Lawler's 6.5m 175HP, Sorrento A very fine sunny day. Light winds, but the swells were up even in the south of Port Phillip. I was allocated to John Lawler's boat, along with Greg Richards,, Peter Briggs, and Ken Methvan. We headed out to a new dive site on Nepean Wall, which is yet to be named, with GPS marks provided by Alan Storen and massaged by Alan Beckhurst. (not the GPS coordinates provided here, but in the same area.) This found us at 18-20 metres on the top of a 50+ metre drop-off wall. John Lawler, Ken Methven and myself got the first dive, and thanks to a perfectly placed shot line set by Alan, we were soon descending down to our agreed depth of 30 metres. Wow! Canyons, caves, bommies, and long dark ledges were discovered as we moved slowly taking in all of this magnificent scenery. |
