| Divemaster: Ketut, Tulamben Wreck Divers Boat: Village Boat For our second dive at Menjangan Island, we entered the water just around from the jetty at the Temple Point dive site. This proved to be a simply magnificent wall dive. Again, my right ear equalisation problems meant I took some time to join the others at depth, and I shared air with Benita to extend our dive time. Even the coral reef areas at the top of the wall were facinating to explore as we did our safety stop. Benita and I just didn't want to get out of the water but eventually gave in to Ketut's requests for us to ascend. As we motored in the boat back to Labuhan Lalang we had a dolphin join us for a while. Then it was back to Reef Seen Aquatics (www.reefseen.com) in Pemuteran. We managed to catch up with Chris Brown, the Australian founder of this facility. Chris is doing an amazing job with some environmental projects in the area. One of these is a turtle hatchery, where the locals are paid to collect turtle eggs, they are hatched in capitivty, nurtured until they are bigger and have a greater chance of survival when released. We took Ketut for dinner that night to one of the resort restaurants along the beach. The sparkle in his eyes when we tucked into the banana pancakes and ice cream was great to see. |
