Divemaster: Suki, Tulamben Wreck Divers

Suki led us down to the beach and along it eastwards towards the far end of the beach, past the last of the resorts and past where the village jukungs are beached. It was tough on my feet! We geared up and made of way into the water. It was an easier entry than at the Liberty wreck because of the smaller sized stones.

As I tightened my mask, the strap retaining pin broke. Suki tried to fix it but no go. Then he worked out he could use parts from his mask to fix mine and did so. One of the other divemasters, who was just finishing a dive then lent Suki his mask. Then we were finallt ready to start the dive.

The coral spurs and fissured wall are covered with gorgonians and fine bushy black corals. Once again there was an abundance of marine life, with Suki finding and pointing out many small and interesting critters as well.

We made or way slowly along the wall. One I signalled that I had reached 100 bar we turned around and headed back the other way.

I had adjusted the postion of the cylinder to be higher on my back before starting the dive. This improved my trim, but it still wasn't great. Before exiting the water I did a weight check and realised I could probably drop 1 kilogram of lead, which would help improve my trim.

Once onshore we took off our BCs and cylinders for the porters to carry back. Suki then lead us up to the road, which made for a much easier walk back to Tulamben Wreck Divers where we changed.

We headed back to the Mimpi Hotel and Benita negotiated a great rate of R140,000 for us both to have a massage. The best massage I've ever had and by far the cheapest as well. Then we had dinner at the Mimpi Hotel.
