| Gili Mimpang, aka Batu Tiga (Three Rocks) and Mimpang Island, is renowned dive site in the Amuk Bay area, between Padang Bai and Candidasa, Bali. It's a group of four rocky outcrops about a kilometre northwest of Tepekong, Bali. Gili Mimpang, unlike Tepekong, is connected to the Bali shelf and the back part of the group is flat and shallow. Though it covers a rather small area, the southern end of this reef is supposed to be one of the richest in all of Bali. It is remarkably varied, combining wall and sloping reefs, jagged rocks and boulders, and hard corals, soft corals, and big gorgonians. The fish life is exceptional, including schooling fish, unusual small reef fish, lots of sharks and even molas. Current conditions can be tricky here. Location: GPS marks are sourced from the PADI website. |
