I finally figured out how to get the correct answer, but it has nothing to do with the name of the puzzle... am I missing the point? Or maybe the problem, as currently stated, is overdetermined.... smile

"Introduction to General Systems thinking"
Weinberg, Gerald

Are your lights on?

A better hint:

How many petals are oaround the rose_s_?

Time to solve: < 30 seconds.

BUT: Not really.

Only on the trials I instantiated.

What actually _is_ the eigenstate?

My friend introduced me to this brain teaser and guarenteed me that I could not figure it for at least a week. It took an hour.

ok... they say the longer it takes you to figure out, the smarter you are, whichc honestly insults me. Im a pretty smart person, but this thing took me maybe 15, 20 seconds to figure out. cool

A good exercise . . . it took me a good 20 minutes to get it.

The most needlessly confusing aspects of the layout are:

1. The implication that the dice have to be in a certain order.

2. The misleading ambiguity of the name.

Having read the Bill Gates story, I suspected that order may not matter, though this is unclear at the start. On perusing other versions of the game, I found one in which the dice are thrown randomly. Immediately I realized the solution.

Thanks for a neat site!
