It took me three long cruel days to figure it out. I was so stumped when someone in my class got it in three minutes. But, the effort paid off and I had fun telling people about the game and watching them sweat. wink

My x got me shitfaced one night and we started playing the game. After one hour of inebriated inability, I gave up and came back to it hungover the next day. It took me approximately 15 minutes in my hangover phase to pick up the pattern, and now I torture my friends with the game. I'm so nice.

After one run, it is fairly easily to see the pattern. Failing to look at the pattern might illustrate the limits of a mathematical approach of the problem.

It took about 5 minutes once I actually tried. It is very easy to overthink this one.
