One of my students showed this to me and asked if I could figure it out. After I got home, I decided to try it. Once I realized the solution, I couldn't believe how simple it actually was.

I started off adding, dividing, multiplying to no avail. Then I re-read the intro and it all became crystal clear.

Nice puzzle, but left me feeling a bit stupid. A few kind dice rolls led me to the answer after far too much headscratching. Glad I stuck with it though. nice one, thanks.
