Fun game, keeping the secret is what makes the game fun.
One roll, read the bill gates story. Still clueless I took another roll, guessed the answer and haven't missed one since.

After about 20 minutes of helplessly searching for some elbaorate algorythm I finally just stepped back and really read the instructions carefully. It's really that simple! but boy am I glad I figured it out I can see how this thing could keep people up at night.

Not that smart, took me 15 mins to figure out. Not that easy to think outside the box.

I came across your site and found "Petals Around The Rose". I love puzzles like this, and the fact that I know of a couple of slightly similar ones - plus the way I look at things - probably helped me solve it.
I look forward to trying it out on some friends.
Please let me know of any other similar puzzles.

Jerry

Nice to be the first entry for 2007 - even though in the UK we still have 8 hours to go

great puzzle. I tried 3 guesses and could not see link. Then I read the Bill Gates story and all was clear. Took me about an hour including reading.
Cracked this on 4th go.
Thanks. Ill pass this challenge on.
