I managed to work it out after a good half hour of being baffled, it's a brilliant puzzle, it really does stick in your head until you have worked out the rule and even the cleverest people can get thorougly confused by it!

I am a Potentate of the Rose. I may, however, have cheated because as a high school math teacher, I'd already solved a similar puzzle regarding polar bears sitting around a hole in the ice. And my students say, "No one ever uses this stuff."

Hey figured it out! I'm just in sixth grade. No help just me and my book...  By the way, I'm not a nerd.  Anyone younger??  lol Nice game! I found another game just like that but the question wasn't about petals and roses its for food inclined people: "How many bites in the donut?" Same procedure on how to do it but the only difference is the question. SO peace out!
