The secret's safe with me.
Roses are red. Or yellow or pink or white.

w00t! There's something to be said for forcing yourself to stare at it without moving until you get it right! 3 hours later, I'm starving, brainfried, and have a wicked need to use the nearby rest facilities, but it was worth it!

It took me like a week to figure the petals around the rose game out, but once i did i was inspired to write a PHP version and then a JavaScript version because the PHP version was slow.
If you want you can find my versions at http://meep.frandt.com/rose/

Indeed, a great puzzle. To begin with, there was no clue at all. Then the name of the game itself struck.

Got it in four. It's a little like a riddle that children get first and adults struggle over because we think too hard. The riddle for those interested is "What do rich people want, poor people have, if you eat it you die, and it's greater than God."
As stated children usually get it quickly...adults can struggle for ages.
