Congratulations on becoming a Potentate of the Rose; go forth and educate the public by *not* actually teaching them at all. It's their responsibility to figure it out.

I few years back I have discovered the trick to "Petals around the rose", without the use of the internet. I was given the challenge by my algebra teacher.

I got it about 15 years ago on the third roll. Now I introduce it to my high school math classes about once every 4 years (so that they can all graduate before the new batch arrives). This year, it's time again. We're going to do it as a puzzle before Christmas vacation.

I figured out the solution to this game back in the late 1970s when presented with the challenge by a dear colleague - a math wiz and teacher. It took me about 20 minutes. Once you learn it, you never forget. I hadn't thought about searching for it on the Internet until today. I'm glad to learn the challenge lives on and I am happy to be among the registrants of this official Fraternity of Petals Around the Rose.
