Anyone care to help me understand why the name is important, without giving away the algorithm of how to solve it?

The solution is really very easy - it can be solved using 2nd grade math

Look at the dice, and compare with whatever algorithm you have developed. Look at the name closely again.
Check out the dice.

I solved it with math as well. Took me quite a while to finally get it. My wife got it in three rolls thanks to the name clue. It is quite obvious once you figure it out.

You don't need to use math to solve it. It can be solved visually, and then the name makes sense.

I DON'T GET IT!

How in the world does 'Petals around the Rose' have anything to do with math and dice?

Well, if you don't understand the significance of the name, I would guess you haven't actually solved it.

Just found the site. I think I got the meaning behind the name, but only after finding out the math behind the answer. I got up to 20 in a row correct before tiring of playing it. Seems to be the correct solution, but I am still not sure about the name clue. If someone could e-mail me the meaning it would be much appreciated. bluesmiley (AT) etvwclub (dot) com. Thanks. I am looking forward to showing this game to my family, but would like to verify the meaning of the name first.
