G'day there,
I have just updated the JavaScript version of "Petals Around the Rose" so that it now works with the Microsoft Internet Explorer v6 and Netscape Navigator v7 browsers.
I'm assuming it will now also work with Mozilla, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Safari, though I haven't tested it with those browsers. (Your feedback would be most welcome.)
The original JavaScript version of "Petals Around the Rose" was written to work with Netscape Navigator v3. The original JavaScript version also worked with the then current version of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
At that time I also had VBScript versions using ActiveX controls that only worked with Internet Explorer. But those VBScript versions stopped working with the release of IE v4 and the dropping of support for the primary ActiveX control I was using.
It seems at some point in the evolution of Netscape Navigator something changed such that the original JavaScript version no longer worked. I have addressed that in this updated version.
Now that I have access to server side scripting, I should implement a PHP based version that would be more browser independent.
