My Calling
There's no doubt that the Information Technology
industry was my calling. It's a wide reaching industry,
always in a state of change and growth, and I am constantly challenged. I've now spent nearly thirty years
in the industry and I still feel as young as ever and my
career in IT is still as exciting today as it was when I
started!
I've been fortunate in that I was given the opportunity
to move from technical and technology focused roles, in to sales
and marketing focused roles. And later, in to the general,
logistics, human resources and administrative management of organisations.
It's been great to be involved with so many
exciting companies and projects over the years.
It's terrific being one of the fortunate people who are
able to make a living out of their number one interest. So
when I'm not working I can often
be found either updating my knowledge of some aspect of
computing, upgrading the software or hardware on one of my
computer systems,
or helping someone else with a computer related
problem.
Along the way I've done related things like: start the
first PC based bulletin board service in Australia; been
founder and inaugural president of the Melbourne PC User Group;
and been selected as one of fifty finalists in an
international web design
contest. And I'm not done yet!
